One of my many roles is that of athlete. But as a mother the first thing that gets scratched from my schedule when family needs come into play is “my time.” The kids know I’m happier when I get the endorphins and I took it to the extreme this last year when I trained for my first figure competition. They were my biggest supports. “Mom, don’t eat that!” often flew out if their mouths at my weak food moments. My oldest daughter, Nadya, was all about contest prep. She didn’t like to miss team posing practice and watch us perfect our t-walk.
You can’t reach goals without your family behind you and these monkeys rose to the call. “Turn up the music!” is their mantra as we head to gym.
